Apple Barrel® Happy Caterpillar
This incredibly creepy, crawly and cute project will worm its way into your "to do" list. The wide spectrum of paint, chenille stems and other supplies A.C. Moore offers will leave you as happy as the caterpillar.
- Time:1 hour
1Use the flat brush to paint the Styrofoam balls Lime Sherbert, Key West, Spring Green, Turquoise and Nutmeg Brown. For a boy caterpillar, omit the wood flower, riboon and paint the body in a primary color palette.
2Though the project time does include drying time, make sure any items you paint or glue are completely dry before proceeding.
3Use the pouncer to paint dots in Bright Magenta where the legs will be.
4Take the dry stencil brush and paint a very small amount of Bright Magenta for cheeks. Add eyes, nose and mouth using the Black marker.
5Carefully remove the stem from the wood daisy shape. Paint wood daisy shape in Turquoise and Bright Magenta. Glue to top of head.
6Cut eight, 1-1/2 inch pieces of Brown chenille stems to use as legs and antennae. Bend and curl pieces until achieve desired look. Glue into head and body sections.
7Glue the Red and Black pom poms to the wood flower to create a ladybug. Tie Hot Pink ribbon in a bow and glue to neck.
