Back-to-School Book Covers
Sometimes you can judge a book by its cover. That's especially true when it's a school book wrapped in a unique cover guaranteed to stand out in any classroom. Try one of our favorite back-to-school DIYs by grabbing a few gift bags or banner paper or construction paper. Or all three! You'll have fun, they'll have fun, and we're pretty confident that your child's creativity will be the envy of the entire school!

- Time:1-2 hours
1For recycled gift bag book covers:
Step A: Remove the bottom of your bag by cutting down one corner and then cutting around the bottom edges.
Step B: Lay your bag flat. Place the book, centered, on the left edge of the bag. Fold the other end of the bag, the right side, in half over the book. Trim the bag back where its edges meet, leaving about 2 inches beyond the book itself on both edges.
Step C: Lay the bag flat again. Place the book in the center of the bag. Mark your book's height by folding the top and bottom of the bag's edges against the book. This should create a crease in the bag. Remove the book and fold the bag on those creases.
Step D: Lay the book in the center of the bag. Fold over the left edge of the bag until it wraps over the book's cover. Slide the book's cover into that crease. Repeat on the right edge of the bag.
2For a book cover with fun shapes:
Step A: Repeat steps B through D above using banner paper instead of a gift bag.
Step B: Using paper punches, create shapes out of construction paper. Glue shapes to the banner paper cover as desired.
