Project Instructions

  • 1
This project shows the tubular peyote stitch. Cut a length of thread and add needle.
  • 2
Measure and determine whether you want the necklace to be worn as a choker or a little longer, near the collarbone. The measurement will average between 18-20 inches.
  • 3
Thread on eight of the 10/0 beads. Pass the needle through the eight beads again and then through the first bead that was strung on, leaving a 6 inch thread tail.
  • 4
String on one of the 10/0 beads; skip a bead on the circle of beads and go through the next bead. Repeat this process two more times.
  • 5
For the fourth bead, which will be the White Pearl 6/0 bead (each row will now consist of four beads), skip a bead in the foundation row and pass the needle through the next bead and through the first bead that was added in step 4. This is called a step up and important to complete at the end of each row as it will position your needle and thread for the next row.
  • 6
Repeat steps 4 and 5 until the necklace reaches the desired length.
  • 7
With the addition of the 6/0 bead the spiral will be more evident. As the necklace gets a little longer, the beads that the needle will pass through will be easier to see, as in the peyote stitch, the "high" bead is the bead that the needle will pass through; the new bead being added will fill the "low" bead spot in the row.
  • 8
At the end of the necklace, run the thread through a few rows to reinforce the end and run the needle and thread out through the center of the spiral tube. Add on three of the 6/0 White Pearl beads, a Silver crimp bead and one end of the magnetic clasp. Run the thread through the finding loop and back down the crimp bead and beads of the necklace three times to ensure a strong connection.
  • 9
Follow the instructions for using the One Step Crimper and crimp Silver crimp bead. Make sure the crimp is locked tight and trim excess thread. Repeat this process for other end of necklace.
