Project Instructions

  • 1
Initially start with only 10/0 beads. The first row of 6 beads is made with a ladder stitch. Pick up 2 beads and run the needle through the first bead again so they are stacked side by side, then stitch down the second bead. Pull the thread taut. Make sure to keep a 6 inch (or longer) thread tail as it will be needed later to attach the toggle closure.
  • 2
Pick up a third bead and pass down the second bead again, then up the third bead. They will line up with the walls of the beads side by side and the holes of the beads up and down. Continue until there are 6 beads. Close the beads together to form a loop with the needle and thread coming out the top of one of the beads.
  • 3
Pick up 2 beads and pass the needle down through the second bead from the first row. Pass the needle up the third bead from the first row. Tap on the two beads just added so they sit on top of the two beads below.
  • 4
Pick up 2 more beads and repeat step 3. Again repeat step 3 with the third set of 2 beads. (Tip: each row added will be a total of 6 beads.)
  • 5
When finishing the last row of beads make sure to move the needle up through the first bead of the row just added on so you are ready to add the next set of two beads of the new row.
  • 6
Continue for a total of 15 rows with the 10/0 beads, then follow the same directions as above, but with 3 rows of the larger 6/0 beads. Make sure to pull the beading thread taut and that the beads sit correctly.
  • 7
Switch back to the 10/0 beads for 15 more rows, then 3 rows with 6/0 beads until the desired length is reached.
  • 8
At the end of the necklace, run the thread through a few rows to reinforce the end and run the needle and thread out through the center of the herringbone tube. Add on three 6/0 Copper beads from the Copper mix, a Copper crimp bead and one end of the toggle clasp. Run the thread through the finding loop and back down the crimp bead and beads of the necklace 3 times to ensure a strong connection.
  • 9
Follow the instructions for using the One Step Crimper and crimp Copper crimp bead. Make sure the crimp is locked tight and trim excess thread. Repeat for other end of necklace.
