Project Instructions

  • 1
Thread a beading needle with a long length of thread. If new to beading, an arm's length is probably long enough and new thread will need to be worked in as needed.
  • 2
Start by threading on one 6/0 bead and run thread through it again, leaving a 12 inch tail. This stopper bead will be removed once the bracelet is beaded a few rows. The longer tail will be used to create the closure ends later.
  • 3
This bracelet uses the Even Count Peyote Stitch. Pick up 26 of the Kelly Green (hereafter referred to as KG) Silver lined beads. Going back in the opposite direction, pick up one KG and run the needle through the second bead closest to the needle end of the thread. Continue to pick up a KG bead and running the needle through every other bead. This will create what will look like a zipper or line of beads that are positioned with high beads and low beads. The row will have a high bead at the beginning (will be 2 beads on top of one another) and the end will have just one low bead.
  • 4
Turn your work around. The single low bead will now be at the beginning of the row. Pick up another KG and run the needle through the second bead (this will be a high bead). For each row you are basically filling in the low bead space by adding a bead and running the needle through the next high bead.
  • 5
When you get to the end of the row the last bead will now be a low bead, ready for you to turn your work and begin the next row as you did in step 4.
  • 6
Continue for a total of 15 rows. To count the rows, count the beads in a zig zag as every other row starts one bead in from the outside bead.
  • 7
The Brown tone beads will alternate with the Green tone beads for a total of seven rows.
  • 8
Bead colors for this bracelet were in strung in the following order: Kelly Green, Copper Mix, Key Lime Mix, Brown Iris, Green Lister Mix, Copper Mix; repeat for the desired length of the bracelet.
  • 9
Move needle and thread to the end of one side of the bracelet; bring needle up the second bead on the end and add on a 6/0 Crystal Bronze Seed bead and one 10/0 Copper Mix bead. Run the needle back through the 10/0 bead and down the next end bead on the bracelet. Move the needle up the next bead and repeat, creating a beaded edge along the bracelet. Repeat with the other side of the bracelet.
  • 10
For the bracelet ends, Add the ends with the large beads first so that the loops on the other end can be made to size. Move needle and thread to the 7th bead from the left side of the bracelet so the needle comes out of the right side of the bead. String on seven 10/0 Copper mix beads, large bead and 3 more 10/0 beads. Run needle back through large bead (the three beads above the bead will create what is called a picot) and add on seven additional 10/0 Copper mix beads and run needle through the left side of the bead. What this will do is create a circular bead path. Move the needle through the 6th and 7th beads and run through the same beads again to strengthen the large bead closure. Repeat with second large bead closure from the right side of the bracelet so that they are evenly spaced.
  • 11
For the other end of the bracelet, add on loops by stringing on the necessary amount of beads that will allow the large bead to snugly fit through the loop and keep the bracelet closed on the wrist. This will require some testing of the bead and loop together until the correct number of beads for the loop are determined. Run needle and through the loop an addition 1-2 times to strengthen the loop. Repeat for second loop.
  • 12
Make sure when finishing and adding on thread that the thread is run through other beads so that it does not come apart.
