Project Instructions

Use a gauge of 18 sts and 24 rows (4 inch) with larger needles in stocking st to knit a sweater that measures for 2 years, 4 years, 6 years and 8 years. This translates approximately to 21 (23, 25 and 26-1/2) inch to fit the chest and 25 (27, 29-1/2, 32-1/2) inch in finished chest. Save time, check your gauge. If the hook or needle listed under supplies does not work, use the size that allows you to obtain the required gauge.
Pattern is written for smallest size with changes for larger sizes in parentheses. When only one number is given, it applies to all sizes. To follow a pattern more easily, circle all numbers pertaining to your size before beginning. Download the template for abbreviations and stitches not explained elsewhere and the charts.
