- Time:1/2 hour + drying time
1Place the piece of cardstock or the page from a book onto the clipboard and use liquid adhesive or decoupage medium to coat it and adhere it to your clipboard. Coat the entire clipboard in Baby Blue (the cardstock does not need to be dry before painting).
2Begin adding buttons with hot glue once the paint and liquid adhesive or decoupage is dry. Start at the center of the metal clip and work towards the bottom, filling in all available space. Don't worry if you have a few small gaps. You may find that putting a paintbrush or pencil under the clip to keep it raised helps. It'll also prevent you from accidentally gluing a button to both the board and the clip. Continue filling the whole area, overlapping buttons as needed. Smaller buttons for the bottom portion of the clip work best. Moving off the metal clip, add some large and small buttons to the top corners of the clipboard. Continue to add buttons until you're satisfied.
3Take a paint brush and some Snow (Titanium) White acrylic paint and lightly paint the edges of your clipboard -- it is ok if your buttons get a hint of this paint as well. If you'd like a bit more of a distressed look, take that same paintbrush and brush lightly with the Snow (Titanium) White paint over the entire surface including your buttons.
