Project Instructions

  • 1
Project time does not include drying time for the paint.
  • 2
Download and print project template. Cut hat shape from Black felt and nose on Orange felt.
  • 3
Paint wood circle with two coats Snow (Titanium) White paint and put aside.
  • 4
Cut 1-1/4 inch x 5 inch rectangle from Neon Lime felt. Angle top if desired as shown in picture and glue in place.
  • 5
Using picture as a guide, paint the words Christmas Countdown in Lamp (Ebony) Black onto the hat using liner brush. You may need to apply two coats. Put aside.
  • 6
After wood circle has completely dried, position hat approximately 2-1/2 inch from top center of wood circle and trace bottom edge lightly using pencil onto the wood circle. Put hat aside.
  • 7
Lightly pencil the numbers 1-24 going around the circle’s edge, starting and ending just below the line you just drew. (Tip: You may find it easier to write 1, 14 and 24, followed by 7 and 19 to help space out your numbers evenly.)
  • 8
Lightly pencil semi-circle about an inch above the numbers for the mouth reaching from 5 to 22.
  • 9
Lightly pencil the eye oval outlines.
  • 10
Trace numbers with the Black marker.
  • 11
For the mouth and eyes, trace with Black marker or Lamp (Ebony) Black paint and liner paintbrush.
  • 12
Glue hat to wood circle, being sure to cover the line drawn in step 6.
  • 13
Cut two 1-1/2 inch circles, one 2-1/2 inch x 8-1/2 inch rounded rectangle and one 2-1/2 inch x 8 inch standard rectangle from Red felt.
  • 14
On the bottom edge of the standard rectangle, cut small 1 inch slits along the bottom to create fringe.
  • 15
Bend and pinch the fringe so that it creates a 3D effect.
  • 16
Using picture as a guide, glue fringed rectangle on top of rounded rectangle to make the scarf.
  • 17
Glue scarf to back of wood circle.
  • 18
Glue Red circles at the corners of snowman mouth.
  • 19
Cut out circle from felt that is big enough to cover the head of your thumbtack.
  • 20
Determine center of your circle and push the thumbtack through the wide edge of the carrot and into the wood. Glue circle on top to cover head of thumbtack. (Tip: if the pointed end of your tack is longer than the thickness of the board, cover it with a cork or pencil eraser. )
