Project Instructions

  • 1
Print out desired number (or letter) onto a sheet of paper in an extra large size (about 5-1/2 inch). Make sure the shape doesn’t have any really thin areas. Staple the printout to desired sheet of corrugate paper (paper needs to be on the outside of the number (or letter) shape).
  • 2
Cut out the number (or letter) shape through both the printout and the corrugate. Trace the shape onto the back of another piece of corrugate paper. (Tip: rhe second shape should have the corrugate side of the paper on the opposite side of the first cutout).
  • 3
Cut several 2 inch strips from the same color of corrugate paper. Score and fold the top and bottom of each strip 1/4 inch in from each edge. In the 1/4 inch sections, cut several slits from the edge to the folded line. (Tip: if desired, remove the corrugate layer from the backing on the 1/4 inch folded sections to make it easier to adhere to the number (or letter) shape. Adhere the folded sections to the back of the cut out number (or letter). Adhere the strips together as needed. Adhere the second number (or letter) to the folded sections on the bottom of the strips. This should create a three dimensional look.)
  • 4
Cut a 1-1/2 inch circle. Cut two 1-1/4 inch x 6 inch strips from gauze paper. Score and fold the strips every 1/4 inch. Adhere end of the strips together, creating one large loop of paper. Press the edge of the loop down so it makes a flattened circle shape. Adhere flattened circle to the 1-1/2 inch cut circle to hold in place. Adhere a button to the center then adhere it to the number (or letter).
  • 5
Fold a 3 inch strip of gauze paper in half. Cut two triangles from the paper on the fold. Wrap the folded triangle shapes around two toothpicks to make flags. Adhere triangle flags to the circle. Tie a twine bow and adhere it to the toothpicks.
  • 6
Cut a 3/4 inch x 5 inch strip from pebbled paper. Cut a v-shape from each end of the strip. Score and fold the strip at 1 inch and 1-1/4 inch from each end of the strip respectively. Add alphabet stickers to the center of the strip to spell part of your desired sentiment. Write out the other part of your sentiment with marker. Adhere the folded strip to the number (or letter) over the circle.
