Deco Mesh Witch

A pinch of Styrofoam, a hearty scoop of deco mesh, paint, and a passion for the (black) arts, our wicked witch is a brewing up a bewildering spell to cast on your Halloween décor.

Tip: Cutting deco mesh with a rotary cutter, cutting mat, and ruler makes it easier and will make a simple, straight line cut.

Whether or not the witching hour is close at hand, we still want to see your project pics! #ACMooreInspired

Project Instructions

  • 1
Cut 5" off the top of the Styrofoam cone (body) and a small section off the 6" Styrofoam ball (head). Hot glue one 1½" ball to the side of the Styrofoam egg. Use another Styrofoam ball to shape them into the nose, and hot glue the nose to the front of the head. Paint the cone (body) Lavender, the ball (head) and two 1-½" inch balls (hands) plus two 6" pieces of dowel (arms) Sour Apple, and then let everything dry.
  • 2
Hot glue the flat edge of the (ball) head onto the top of the cone (body). Hot glue one hand onto the end of each arm. Hot glue the other ends of the arms into the sides of the body on a slant.
  • 3
Cut two 10" x 7" pieces of Purple deco mesh, and pin one corner of one piece into the body by the top of one arm. Wrap the piece around the arm to create a sleeve and pin the other corner into the body at the same point as the first pin. Repeat for the second arm.
  • 4
Cut six 10" x 14" pieces of Purple deco mesh. Fold the ends of one short edge of one piece into the center until they meet then overlap. Pin the folded edge into the center front top of the body. Repeat with one more on each side of the first piece, and then repeat with three more on the back of the body. Tie a piece of ribbon tightly around the center with the knot in the back. Trim the ends and arrange the pieces of mesh. Tie another piece of ribbon around the neck to cover the pins with the knot in the back and trim the ends.
  • 5
Cut 6" pieces of the Orange mesh ribbon, and curl one piece widthwise. Pin one end to the head for hair curl, and then pin three rows of hair curls onto head. Make one row about 3-½ " up from neck, and make the second row about 1-½" up from the first row. Make the third row about 1-½" up from the second row. Then, cut five 3" pieces of Orange mesh ribbon, curl each piece, and pin it to top front of the head for bangs.
  • 6
Hot glue the witch hat onto the top center of the head.
  • 7
Download and print the project templates, and use it to cut out the eyes and eyeballs. Glue the eyeballs to the eyes with fabric glue and hot glue the eyes to the head. Create a mouth with Red dimensional fabric paint, a tooth with White dimensional fabric paint, and the wart with Black dimensional fabric paint and let everything dry thoroughly.
