DecoArt Personalized Painted Pencil Box
Back-to-school means new pens, pencils, markers and more. Start the year off right and stay organized with an easy-to-make personalized wooden pencil box.
Notes: Let paint dry completely in-between each step.
Remove product label from pencil box before beginning project.
Refer to project photo for design placement.

1Basecoat: Remove lid of pencil box to basecoat separately. Use #10 flat brush and Irish Moss to paint insides of pencil box and inner lid. Rinse brush. Use same brush and Snow (Titanium) White to paint entire outside of the pencil box and lid. Rinse brush. Let dry completely.
2Background Design: Use pencil and ruler to make paper lines around all sides of pencil box. Use pencil with tracing & transfer paper to transfer pencil pattern from the template onto lid. Use #1 liner brush to mix (1) part Snow (Titanium) White with (1) part Sapphire Blue. Use mix to paint on paper lines on all sides of pencil box. Rinse brush. Let dry completely. Use same brush to mix (1) part Snow (Titanium) White with (1) part Country Red. Use mix to add the paper line going across top and two sides. Rinse brush. (Save mix for future step.)
3Pencil: Use #1 liner brush to mix (2) parts Snow (Titanium) White with (1) part Primary Yellow. Use mix to fill in sharpened end of pencil. Rinse brush. Use #10 flat brush and Irish Moss to fill in body of pencil. Rinse brush. Use #1 liner brush and mix from step 5 to paint very top of eraser. Using same brush, add (2) more parts Snow (Titanium) White to mix; use new mix to paint bottom of eraser and to highlight top a little. Rinse brush. Use #1 liner brush and Shimmering Silver to paint metal part on pencil. Rinse brush. Use ruler and pencil to add pencil detail lines.
4Personalize: Use pencil to draw swirl or doodle or trace and transfer scribble pattern from template to two or three sides. Use #1 liner brush and Lamp (Ebony) Black to outline pencil, fill in lead, and paint on scribble/doodle. Rinse brush. Use #1 liner brush and Country Red to paint on name. Rinse brush.
