DecoArt Sweet Summertime Tray
A wood tray that you decorated is a fabulous way to serve cold drinks. You'll be the hostess with the mostess!
- Time:2 hours + drying time
1Note: Let all paint and glue dry between applications. A hair dryer, set to low, then applied to the painted areas significantly speeds up this drying time and also helps prevent wrinkles in the cardstock.
Paint Base: Squeeze each of the paints onto a different section of your foam plate or palette. Use flat brush and Bright Orange to paint inner sides and inner handles of tray. Use the same brush to paint a Snow (Titanium) White square every other inch of the rim, so when you add the Citron Green, it has a checkered pattern. Use flat brush and Citron Green to paint outer sides, the other part of the rim's top and bottom of tray.
2Create Liner: Measure and cut cardstock to fit into bottom of tray. Use flat brush to apply thin, even coat of glue to bottom of tray; place back of paper over glue in bottom of tray and smooth out all wrinkles. Use Buttermilk to paint solid circles with a 2 inch diameter on cardstock. Use rim of round brush and Mustard Seed to paint border around circle for rind of lemon. Use shader brush and Cadmium Yellow to paint sections of lemon. Add a great saying (Sweet Summertime is our favorite) and paint it on the cardstock with the liner brush and Desert Turquoise. Tip: Do a test run of your saying on a similarly-sized piece of scrap paper first.
3Finishing: Use round brush and Desert Turquoise to paint spiral swirls on long sides of tray. Spray tray with sealer and let dry.
