DMC Fiber Art Teardrop Earrings
A combinaton of blue, green and silver you'll love to wear!
- Time:1 hour
1Cut two lengths of jewelry wire, each 5 inch long. This will be referred to as the base wire.
2Using round nose pliers, create a 3 mm loop on each end of the base wire to create a 4 inch length of wire with a loop at each end.
3Wrap another piece of wire directly from the roll around the full length of the base wire. Wrap the wire evenly around the base wire, leaving evenly spaced loops. Cut the wire from the roll when the base wire is covered.
4Bend the wrapped base wire into a teardrop shaped loop. Bring the looped ends around until they touch together.
5Beginning with Silver, tie an overhand knot around the base of the two loops to secure them together.
6Proceed with desired string art pattern. Move the wrapped floss over one space with each loop around the teardrop shape. Continue all the way around the teardrop to create a solid thread background. Tie off the floss at the end to secure and add a drop of nail polish on the knot.
7Next, add the Green, wrapping it in a completely different pattern, covering a different part of the background from the second color. Tie it off at the end to secure the thread to the base loop and a drop of clear nail polish.
8Finish with the Blue Topaz, creating a slightly different pattern, covering only part of the background floss base. (Note: for steps 6, 7 and 8, there is no wrong way to do this. If you don't like the pattern you make at first, simply unwrap it and start again until you create the desired pattern. Tie it off at the end to secure the thread to the base loop. Secure knot with a drop of nail polish.)
9Add clear nail polish to the outer edge of the base teardrop loop to secure the threads and prevent unraveling or loosening.10Add a jump ring through the two top loops on the base wire.
11Add a Silver ear wire to the jump ring to complete the earring.
12Repeat steps 1 through 11 for the second earring to complete the pair. The earrings do not need to be wrapped identically.
