Project Instructions

  • 1
You will need two rolls of Duck Tape in the base color, depending on which bag you are creating. For the bag sides, start with Blaze Orange (for Pumpkin Bag) or Island Lime (for Frankenstein Bag) tear off a 14 inch piece of tape, laying down on work surface horizontally, sticky side up. Continue with strips overlapping 1/4 inch until a 14 inch x 14 inch sheet is created. Repeat by placing same length of tape and lay down overlapping onto the sticky side of the first sheet, creating the “fabric” for one piece (bag side). Repeat to make second piece (bag side).
  • 2
Cut 12 inch circle from fabric. A bowl with a 12 inch diameter makes a good template.
  • 3
To create the bag, place a length of tape that matches the sides of the bag onto cutting mat. With a ruler, or by ripping it, create 6 inch x 1 inch pieces of tape. Create as many mini pieces as are needed to attach them around outside of bag folding over edges to create a seal. Do not tape top opening! (To create a wider bag, create a fabric that is 3 inch x 8 inch. Attach with the small pieces of tape on the outside & inside of the bag, creating a gusset.)

For the Handle, tear off a 20 inch long piece of Blaze Orange tape (for Pumpkin Bag) or Island Lime (for Frankenstein Bag). Lay down, sticky side up. Carefully fold up from bottom to top 1/3 way. Repeat by folding down 1/3 way. Secure to inside of bag with a piece of tape.

For Pumpkin Bag: To create stem, cut or tear 4 inch length of Mud Puddle tape. Lay down sticky side up. Cut wire to create a rectangle 2 inch x 3 inch and place on sticky side of tape. Tear off another piece of Mud Puddle tape, attaching sticky side to sticky side, but making sure to leave 1/2 inch of tape exposed (to attach to bag). To make vines, tear Island Lime tape to desired length. Lay down sticky side up. Cut wire to length and attach in middle of tape. Tear off another piece of tape 1/2 inch shorter and lay over wired tape, sticky side to sticky side, leaving section of sticky tape exposed. Create as many as you would like. Various lengths look great! Curl around pencil and pull to loosen. Use craft knife to “carve” pumpkin face from Midnight Madness tape. Place pumpkin vines on front, at top of bag. Place pumpkin stem over vines to hide ends to further secure. Place carved pumpkin features on front as desired.

For Frankenstein Bag: From Midnight Madness tape sheets or lengths of tape overlapped, use craft knife to create “hair,” squiggly mouth, eyes and scars. Cut small strips to create scars. To make “bolts,” tear or cut 5 inch of Midnight Madness tape. Fold over, sticky side, leaving 1/2 inch exposed. Repeat for second bolt. Cut two eyes from Winking White tape. Attach all pieces to create face.
