Project Instructions

  • 1
Project time does not include drying time for neither the paint nor the glitter.
  • 2
Use a toothpick for a handle and paint the 1-1/2 inch Styrofoam balls Pure Black. While the Styrofoam ball is still wet sprinkle with glitter. The paint will secure the glitter in place as it dries. Once dry, glue the wiggle eyes in place on the Styrofoam balls. Shape the White craft wire into fangs and glue them in place under the eyes. Cut small triangles from the Black tape and glue to the top of the head for ears. Glue a Black feather to each side of the body for wings.
  • 3
Gather the end of the Metallic Black deco mesh and pin it to the bottom edge of the 12 inch Styrofoam cone. Keep the deco mesh gathered together and wrap it tightly around the Styrofoam cone. Slightly overlap each wrap to completely cover the Styrofoam cone. Pin the deco mesh again at the top of the Syrofoam cone to secure in place. Repeat this step to cover the 9 inch Styrofoam cone with Metallic Purple deco mesh.
  • 4
Cut off a small slice from the top and the bottom of the Styrofoam ball. This will help the tree stand upright and give a flat surface to attach the Styrofoam cone.
  • 5
Cut 6 inch lengths of Metallic Black deco mesh. Gather the lengths together so they are about 1 inch wide. Pin one end of the deco mesh length to the top center of the Styrofoam ball, wrap it down the side of the Styrofoam ball and pin again at the bottom edge of the Styrofoam ball. Pin another piece opposite of this piece to divide the Styrofoam ball in half. Now pin two more lengths in the same way to divide the Styrofoam ball in quarters. Fill in the four bare sections with lengths of deco mesh to completely cover. Glue a craft stick half way into the top of the Styrofoam ball. Glue the Styrofoam cone onto the other end of the craft stick on top of the Styrofoam ball.
  • 6
Pin lengths of ribbon spiraling down each of the deco mesh trees. Pin a small bow to the top of each of the trees.
  • 7
To attach the bats, cut lengths of the Black wire and bend them into misshaped spirals. Glue one end into the bottom of the bat and the other end into the cone.
