When I started this project of Christmas presents, I dwsigned it myself. It is a cartoon character of an Italian chef with checkboard across the bottom and Mia Cucina across the top. Except for the lettering, it is all done in satin stitch. The one stitch I hate to do the most. I did a larger version for my daughter, one for her hairdresser, and another one is done of the Xmas presents. All total I will have done 14 of them. My DD wants me to make some for her to give as Xmas presents. So of course I said "Yes darling daughter. Because I love you I will do it." Once again I have shot myself in the foot.

But I finally figured out a way to cut down on the satin stitch. I can outline the chef's hat with green outline stitch like the lettering. The bow I will do in satin stitch and the face outlined also. For the checkerboard, I will use stencil and paint the squares on. I wish I could do all of it in stencil. They would go so much quicker. But then there wouldn't be as much of my own effort in the work.

Sure did. Now you know why I have so many holes in my foot. Everyone who has seen the Italian Chef says that I could easily sell them. But then I would feel pressured to do them when I don't feel like it. I do creative sewing because I find it very relaxing. Yet I hate sewing. My second husband pulled a thread on a new shirt and the button came off. I told him to put it in the pocket and I would sew it back on later. Six months later he pulled the shirt out of the closet and asked me if I was ever going to sew the button on. This happened a few more times. I finally tossed the dang shirt in the trash with the button still in the pocket. Go figure.
