We had a fire in our home and one of my fav xstitch pieces had some smoke damage. I lost the frame but was able to save the piece. There are two black smudges I have not been able to get rid of even tho I have washed this three times. Does anyone have and ideas on what to do? This was a wedding gift from a friend I lost two years ago.

Hope you can it out. I'd probably just take it to a really good dry cleaners and ask them about the stain and see if they can handle it safely. Good luck. angel

Do you have any of those businesses that clean up after fires and other disasters, like ServPro, around you? You might call and ask them. It is amazing the things these companies can get cleaned up.

I have spray n wash or a good soap, gently rub the stain and than soak cool water for a few hours. than wash on gentle cycle. Do not dry in a dryer, put it on a good towel and let it air dry. You may have to do this a few times. You can also make a paste from soap and oxiyclen or spray n wash and rub it into the stain, let it sit for awhile, than wash it. If this does not work you may want to tea dye it. this my hide what ever is left from the stain.

I am sorry that this happen to you especially when that person is gone. I will keep my fingers crossed for you and hope that the stain will come out. pray
