I'm new at this blog thing...so I posted my message in the wrong area. Guess I'm a better stitcher than blogger. Are any of you DMC Mentors? It is a great program that DMC created for the people that love needlearts and want to pass on their passion for stitching.

I have been a mentor for a few years, still have a couple of kits I got . I taught 6,7 & 8 graders in an after school program, and always tried to include some cross stitch and embroidery too.

Did you find this program to be helpful in teaching those ages? I am a homeschooler and I have loads of moms begging me to teach their kids and them.

I guess I am a mentor but not thru any group. I teach needlework to people who want to learn. Not just CS or Embroary, and candlewicking but knitting crohet and sewing. Most of the people I am teaching have found me by word of mouth, and I love it. More people should do this it is rewarding to see someone learn something that you have been doing for years, the looks on their faces when they get it makes it all worth while.

I am a cross stitch addict I guess. I always have a project going, since I find it an easy "carry On craft" since I fly so much. I had to teach myself out of sheer necessity when I went to work at a craft store and we also sold needlework and such. I didnt realize it was so close to doing needlepoint, which i had done years earlier. If you can do one, you can do the other, and plastic canvas too, since a grid pattern is all you need really. It is sad that cross stitch is going by the way side to some other crafts. Its hard to find floss and patterns anymore.
