I have been on the fence about the Cricut for a long time. Anyone want to share your thoughts on it? Is the expression better? What cartridges are best for card makers? thanks!

Hi Cathy,
Well it depends on what kind of cards you make. I'm a stamper so the Cuttlebug is actually more useful to me for its embossing and using all of my Spellbinder's Nestabilities.

I got the Cricut Expression for Christmas. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. Now I do have to say that this is my first die-cutting machine so I don't have any comparison. I do know friends that have other machines really like the intricate cuts the Cricut can make. I do mainly scrapbooking so I am not sure I can lead you in the right direction for carts for cardmaking, but my favorite cartridge is Paper Doll Dress Up. There are tons of great ones out there. Go to the Cricut web site and look around. There is a lot of great information there. I would definitely pay the extra to get the Expression. Being able to do 12x12 paper is a big plus!

I started out scrapbooking with all the stickers. First I tried the Quickutz and hated it because they were such tiny cuts, then I tried another die cutting machine but it only cut 1 item at a time, fortunitly I was able to return these 2 items.

When I saw the Cricut (Original on) I knew I had to have it. Then a year later I got the Expression. That's what I would recommend. I haven't bought a sticker or alphabets since. You can do it all with the Cricut.

It changed my Life, my Wallet but it is so worth it. Now my scrapbookl pages are so much more creative and I do use it a lot of Card Making.

I haven't bought a card in 3 yrs.

I do love Base Camp and/or Plantin Schoolbook and Cursive 101 for Fonts-- Paper Doll Dress Up has a lot of extras. I also love Mickey and Friends and Pooh & Friends. The extra's on these cartridges are endless.

I have an expression and love it! I don't know if you really need the bigger cutting mat for cards, but there are alot of people that like having the option to cut bigger. And, I think it makes cutting the envelopes easier.

I have a Cricut Expression and absolutely love it for scrapbooking! My daughter, 11, and my son, 7, love using it too! It really came in handy for school projects.

I just got my cricut , the small one and I don't use it as much as I thought I would. I mainly make cards so at times its nice to have some lettering . I use my cuttlebug ten times more.

i have the orginal cricut and dont use it that often..but i think it all depends on what you do the most of which would be the better buy..if i had it to do over again i think i would buy the cuttlebug cause i enjoy making the cards the most..

I have the cricut expressions and absolutley LOVE it. I think my favorite cartridge is the Paper Doll one. It has so many hidden cutouts on it that you don't see on the box. I have even made paper dolls for my granddaughter. LOL She was visiting from FL last week and we made several dolls while she was here. When she left the book was full of "stickies" on dolls that she still wants. I have the Cuttlebug too, but use it mainly for embossing. I like the "Plantin Schoolbook" cart that came with mine for fonts and also "Life's a Beach" has a neat font. I make cards but have used my cricut for VBS, decorating the babies new room, made childrens games, etc.

I guess basically it depends on what type of crafting you do and what machine you get used to. I don't think there is any wrong way to go. You would probably like anything you bought since someone on the board will have it and love it!
