I found another cross stitch site with free patterns. They are cute and a free new pattern is offered every day. You can also obtain older patterns by earning points with each pattern being only 10 points. The link is below.

If I ever get finished with the Christmas presents, I want to take up beading. But I keep finding great sites like this one and I will never get to learn beading. That SW program at ACM is becoming more and more tempting. I will wait until I get a 60% coupon before I will give it serious consideration. I find embroidering very relaxing. And I can take it everywhere with me. I very rarely carry my purse. Only my sewing bag. Yesterday while I was watching the parade, there I was sitting on my scooter sewing away. Made a lot of new friends though. Everyone came over to see what I was doing.

I take mine with me everywhere also! I agree that it is very relaxing and as I am a pacer, it keeps from disturbing others. People are also coming over to see my work . Most state that they could never do cross stitching, but I try to tell them that once bitten by the stitching bug, you will be hooked!

My plastic surgeon who did my leg, has collected patches from the different colleges and schools she has attended over the years with the intention of embroidering them. They have been sitting in a bag at the back of her closet for years. Every time I visit her I have my needlework with me. It has inspired her to get the bag out of the closet and start working on them. She recently went on a two week vacation and took them with her. She got three of them done. Her husband had no idea that she knew how to embroider.

I love it when someone looks at the back and tells me that their grandmother always said that the back should look as neat as the front. I just ask them, "Are you the one that is going to take it out of the frame and give me a failing grade?" Stops them right in their tracks. I don't care if there are knots in the back. I want the work to stay in. And I don't care what others think about those knots. If they can do better, then let them. I do this because it is something I enjoy doing. Not for the approval of someone's grandmother.

I always have a project with me-- either some cross stitch, embroidery, small quilting pcs, or needlepoint (which is actually my mother in laws project she began and never got finished, and cant now she shakes too badly-- finishing the last 2 of 8 chair seats she began in the late 60s) (talk about a UFO!!). Since I fly to Jax every week, and spend 2 hrs in the waiting area, 1 hr flying, EACH WAY, I can get alot of handwork done. Plus, I dont get panic attacks on the plane if I concentrate on the needlework (I am a bit claustrophobic).

Isn't it amazing how many people we can inspire just by being ourselves? We bring along a craft to keep us busy and others are soon picking up their unfinished crafts. Way to go!

The Japanese have a way of making knots in their embroidery which are nigh invisible, and do not leave lumps in the artwork. If you care to know, I can post directions for them on here.
I have tried them and they work beautifully. Now I just need to make myself complete ONE of the projects I have started....LOL.
Between needlework, my painted cookies, quilting, drawing, painting, card making, running my video/ice cream store.....I can never seen to finish what I start.
Please tell me I am NOT the only one that has 20 projects "in the making"?????pray

Kindest regards,
Kinga

Ha...love your quote, Kinga!

My mother embroidered six seat covers back in the seventies...she was so proud of them. Well, she used four of them on her seat cushions in her apartment in Florida. One year for Christmas, I snuck one of the ones not being used, and had it matted and framed for her. She cried on that Christmas morning. We hung it on the wall of her room here at my house (where she spent the last several years of her life).

Peace
