Hi im17:D....welcome to the forums. I don't know the first thing about beading...but I saw a few of your posts here in this thread...and thought I'd say hi.

I don't know how much action happens here in the jewelry and beading thread. If you have an acmoore store around you...you can check out their jewelry and beading section, and maybe find out about classes :)

Good luck

Peace

Seventeen year olds are all unique...different personalities...different likes and dislikes.

When my son was seventeen...he'd wear hemp necklaces with maybe two beads...and one charm. He still wears a necklace every once in awhile...only the hemp fiber has been replaced with a leather cord. I think his favorite is one with a celtic knot.

Sounds easy peasey...but I can't prove that. He once asked me to replace the satin cord on one of his necklaces, and I couldn't figure out the clasps :( LOL I think it's still in a box in a drawer somewhere.

Welcome!!!

There's many ideas out there for a necklace style for a 17 year old boy. Do a Google search or check out eBay. The focal (center bead or item) can be something that interest him such as... guitar pic, small metal car part or miniture tool if he's into working on cars, Skateboard bearing if he's into that, etc. There are all kinds of lampworked (torch melted glass) beads that could classify as manly. Stones for that matter also. There are many beads made from all different types of rocks. Most are very nice and could easily fit perfect for a boy to wear without looking girlish.
