So I started a Basic cake decorating class, its fun the teacher is sweet as her cakes! Well be decorating our first cakes this coming Sat. Im scared b/c i dont have that much money to start with... i just got done pricing the list of things we will need for the class... its about $100. I just dont have it to spare, and that worrys me. I love baking so much! everything about it makes me happy. I want to do as much as i can with it before i get to college this coming fall (for baking and pastry). In all honesty im still just nervous and looking to vets for comfort.

in the end really all i want to know is.. do you have any advice for me.

(im grabbing coupons left and right lol)

sorry for my misspellings and grammar issues im sleepy.

The only things that you have to have for course 1 are your tips, bags, cakes and icing ingredients. You can get by with basic stuff and like you said get coupons and buy as you can afford the other items. Tell your instructor you have a budget and ask her for suggestions. Most of all do not stress cake class is supposed to be FUN!

I have the tips that have a coupler and I use them with the ziploc bags. I hate cleaning the bag that came with the set and I can't always get to the store to buy the disposables. So it saves me money in the end as I am not buying different size bags. I may never buy a pastry bag again. Just make sure they are the freezer bags. They are thicker than the storage ones and hold up better. And you don't have to worry about having enough bags for different colors.

I agree. Tell your instructor. She should be able to give you some ways to participate and save money.
