I have a niece who has been known to live in the down side of society. Aside from drugs and thievery, she was also known to dip into practicing the art of being a 'lady of the evening' to support her drug habit.
So one night among many others, she got picked up and was arrested for prostitution. Now like most drug users, she was very, very thin. So they bring her to the station in handcuffs and sit her on a bench while the arresting officer is busy with another suspect. My niece managed to slip out of the handcuffs which were as tight as they could get them, and slipped out the back door right next to where she was sitting. She then walked around to the front door and told the desk officer that she wanted to speak to the officer that just brought in the prostitutes. They called him out front, and she asked him, "Are you looking for me?"
They were too embarrassed to charge her with escaping. The red light of her chosen profession was dim compared to the officer's face.
I am happy to report that she has given up her wayward ways and is now a contributing member of society. She does volunteer work in a hospice.

Oh my, that is both funny and sad at the same time.
I am glad your niece is now a contributing member of society. Good for her for straightening her life out.

It is for real. One time she got a bad batch of herion, and she was paralyzed and in a wheel chair for two years. It certainly limited her activities of the night for a spell.
