They consider that a "decrease." When you need to decrease in crochet, there are generally 2 ways of doing it... either "skip over a chain and single crochet in the next chain" - or as this person is having us do: you have 2 chains remaining. Stick your hook in the first chain, draw up a loop - as if to get ready to single crochet... but don't finish it. Now stick your hook in the last chain and draw up another loop. You have 3 loops on your hook now. Now wrap your yarn around your hook and draw through all 3 loops on your hook. You've just now completed a decrease. For what it's worth, my grandmother taught me 30 years ago when I first learned to crochet just to "skip over a chain and single crochet in the next" to decrease. Instead, I've been using the above method that's listed in the pattern above and like it better - doesn't leave a "hole" where you decreased. The_Cr8ive_Life wrote:crochet the 2 chains together

Count me in the "DUH" Club . . . I, too, tend to over-complicate ~ faced with something I don't understand, I go into panic mode and turn it into something gargantuan, and this is so very simple and logical . . .
THANKS, NAZ, AGAIN!!!
