I was thinking about hosting a potholder swap. I have no clue how to do it, but I thought it would be fun to try! Anyone up for it?

Dec 4: Ok too far behind the ball to do this this month so....

Deadline to register for this Swap is December 31 so tell your friends!

Each person will make a set of potholders. Each person will choose 2 patterns and send me a link or pattern. I will let you know which of those 2 patterns to do. This will avoid duplication. Then you will make 2 of those. In return you will get back 2 different ones in 2 different patterns. Sound Good?

We will swap January 30th.

Everybody who wants to do this to swap in January PLEASE e-mail me.

12/22I e-mailed everyone who has replied here let me know if you are in and I will add you to the:

1/1 FINAL Roll Call

I have never heard of Swaps before in crafting
This can be very habit forming

Well when I have done this with quilt blocks we all made X number of the same block and then swapped so everyone got back a mixed set including one of their own.

With this though I think we could pick a color scheme and then each person make say 3 and each person would get different ones 3 back.

When you go to mail your package to me you would include a second envelope with postage on it that I would mail back to you.

Whadda ya think?

That sounds like a winner.
Just don't except a WOW potholder from me.
I will try to make some nice ones though.
Don't want to make it seem like I did not try.
OK?

I've done swaps for several years and in many different ways. The easiest is pairing 2 people who send one item to each other. A sends to B and B sends to A and so on. But whatever is good. No one should ever feel they can't do it. We were all newbies at one time. I don't care if it's your first or 100th. I just enjoy the fun of the exchange.happy

To save a trip to the post office to get your swap in the mail, go to USPS and look up the zip of the destination. If you have a kitchen scale, weigh your package, allow at least one ounce over what the scale says, put in you destination zip and it will calculate your postage. You then can put in a request for a pickup. And it is all free. You can even get a postage label printed out from USPS.com. The labels can be printed out on plain paper and then securely taped to the package. You will need a credit card for this.

You can even create an address list with the P.O. for future mailings. You never have to set foot in the P.O. again and stand in long lines.

That is great advice Addie. However the return postage needs to be in STAMPS. I have had it happen one too many times that the metered and internet postage is not accepted because of the date.

Admin Lady is on Patrol...

Please review the Site Rules and contact me if you have any questions or concerns (compliments are welcome too!)

I don't know about any classes, but if you google it under learn to crochet, believe me you will find something.
Not too long ago, I was crocheting something & couldn't remember how to do a crochet stitch, & all my books are in storage cause we will be moving.
So, I googled the crochet stitch & a video came up from u-tube & I watched it & practiced & then it came back to me.
So I know that you can find something online to teach you the basic single crochet, it is a very easy stitch & fast. Good luck, I hope this helps
