after being at the orange box for all these years-I have never seen a problem that can't be fixed. It will be alright. Wish I lived closer..I work in the plumbing dept and and am always getting tips from our resident plumber--which by the way ALL Home depots are surposed to have from 6am-3pm a licensed plumber to help you out. hope this helps

I am making a mental note of this tip. You have just eased my DH's head. Seems when we go into the orange box for help the plumbing dept is always deer in the headlights. It's usually late after work hours.

I don't even want my DH to try and fix a thing. I call my sister's soon to be hubby. Mine can't even hang shelf without a lot of drama. HE doezsn't even complain, I wich I could clone him.

This too will pass. Think positive, This gives you time, to find just the right curtains, shower curtains etc. LOL

In early 2008, we started talking about a full kitchen remodel. We were doing some refinancing and knew with the children going to college back-to-back, it was now or never. So, once we refinanced and got some payout, DH said, "You know, I'm not as young or as healthy as I used to be (bad arthritis issues and double knee replacement) so I think we are going to have to hire a contractor." While my face and mouth said, "I know, hunny. I understand." My mind and heart were going
WAAAA HOOOOO

Oh yes, the kitchen was completely gutted - new cabinets, new floor, new granite countertops, new configuration. The contractor kept my frig hooked up, the oven as long as possible, and it was done in three weeks. Worth every extra penny. happy angel d'oh bang head here

The bathroom is progressing SLOWLY. We are encountering small hurdles that take lots of time and ingenuity to figure out. Thankfully it is not costing a ton of $ but still it has eaten up my crafting budget.

We finally got the tub placed last night. It just would not turn around and fit into place. DH removed more drywall and the 1" that provided did the trick.

However, when we got the tub in place he realized the existing pipe was too short so we have to make another trip to the home store today for a different kit...

I've found that it helps to stay focused on the "end product". Think of how wonderful it will be when finished. Best wishes on your renovation!

I have found it is best to keep a cheesekcake handy, especially a chocolate one...then when things get overwhelming you can go lock yourself in your room, just tell everyone "Mom has had it, I am putting myself in time out!

Just wanted to update everyone, the bathroom is coming along nicely. We have a tub with all the working plumbing, vanity (no faucet yet and most important the potty is BACK and working! YAY! A house w/ 6 people and one potty is NOT a happy place! DH is doing a great job and he is really getting it all done, I am amazed.

And I now have visions of an old pickup truck with the wheels missing sitting up on cinder blocks in the front yard. Tell me, is there an old iron bed with rusty springs in the back yard?

I'm sorry. I just couldn't resist. But I do want to know if you have a supply of duct tape.

Good thing. applause I've noticed while out in the Pungo area of Virginia Beach lately that there are many folks using these as flower pots near their mailbox areas. eh?

Glad to hear that your bathroom is coming along. I was pregnant when we did our bathroom. I had to go downstairs to my sister's to use her bathroom.

As soon as we started on our bathroom it started snowing. We used the pile of snow to stick the beer bottles in. When the guys finished working for the day they had the beer. One day I pull up to my house and there's a bathtub on the front lawn, beer bottles chilling in a pile of snow and my toaster over, that caught on fire, sitting on the front steps. My house just screamed "white trash" at that point. It was a pretty funny site to see.

Did you scrap it, Janine?

Hope the bathroom is finished soon. You will have to post a picture for us to see!

KarenJo, this was before I started scrapping. It would have made a funny LO. I have to do my bathroom in my bedroom over so I have another scrappin' opportunity.

We are in the details phase now. The only major thing left is repositioning the light fixtures. We had a full vanity (43" long) another "custom" element of our house that meant we either had to spend a small fortune for another "custom" cabinet and top or go smaller. We chose to go smaller. Now we have a little more room around the toilet and a space for the trash can by the door. I can't find a fixture I like so DH has elected to wait until I do before he changes that. Hopefully the faucet will be in this week then we can move back in. One thing is for sure it is now OUR bathroom no kids allowed!

I'm glad it's coming along. Post some pictures when it's done, I would love to see it. It's nice having your own bathroom. I like it.
