Hi everyone! I wanted to start a postcard swap with a 'Halloween' theme for October.

You will need to make one postcard using stamps (or digital images) relating to Halloween and will receive one from another Postcard Swapper in exchange. On the closing day of this post I will draw names to see who is sending to whom and post that list.

I will close the sign up on October 15th and your postcard should be mailed by October 20th.

Reply to this thread to indicate that you want to play.

Postcards should be 3-4 by 5-6 inches (max 4.25" by 6") and made from heavy duty card stock so that it does not get eaten by the postal machines. Postcard stamps are currently 28 cents.

So everyone will be making 1 (one) postcard only and receiving 1 (one) so this is a really easy swap!

These are postcards and as such part of the fun of collecting them is the post office cancellation marks, etc. Time to to let go a bit and learn to send your "masterpieces" off as is, so NO ENVELOPES (or protective coverings).

All right, who's playing?

Halloween is not my favorite holiday - but I had so much fun making my postcard. I couldn't believe all the stamps there are - silly me!

I hope a few more people sign up.

Let me see if I have this right. We each make one postcard and then wait til you tell us who to mail it to and then actually mail the postcard to the person we got??? If so sign me up, I'll try this one too.

We will miss you frndly!!!

Blue Button, yup, it's that easy. Make one postcard and when the time comes you send it to your partner. The challenge is that you can't use embellishments. It's got to be able to make it through the postal machines 'naked'.

Oh boy...have I failed miserably at this, piggy! All I read was that it had to have a stamped image....I don't remember seeing anything that said "no embellishments". My previous postcards had embellies...I'm sorry.

Rett, the only way to fail is not to send a postcard! The main idea behind a postcard is that it has to make it through the postal machines without things getting ripped off. So if you can attach an embelishment that can make it, then go for it. And you can't cheat and put your postcard in any protective sleeve (envelope, lamination, etc. )

I love texture on my pages, whatever. So Rett, it was hard for me too to think of ways to make it really pretty without any "stick-out" embellishments.

If it made it through the machine - good. I got one from you and it was awesome.

Frndly, I don't celebrate Halloween either but I've got some things that I think could work for this particular swap.

Piggy put me down.

No biggie, just trying to make the postcard a challenge. It will take us all some time to get comfortable with no embellishments.

It said "stamped" or "digital image" - so whatever sounds right to me. I did use a couple of stamps and a cut-out on mine.

I think the hardest part is raised or 3-D embellishments - they would have a tendency to get mangled in the machinery.

You know I find it amazing when I read the rule and interpret them how I think it should be....lol I guess I need to pay better attention to those rules.
