I would try checking the craft section at your library. It really is very simple though. Almost any pattern book will show you a few pages with the basics. Just dive in. You can always pull the yarn out if you don't like it.

Hi mona! Welcome to the forums...we're neighbors...I'm near Albany too!

I haven't done any plastic canvas in a long time.

If you don't want to go to the library...you could probably stop at Coulson's newstand either in Latham (Rt 9 near Hoffman's Playland) or on Broadway (by SUNY Admin) in Albany, and pick up a plastic canvas magazine. They have a great selection of craft magazines. I'm pretty sure I've seen plastic canvas mags there.

I'm not sure if ACMoore has projects or project sheets anymore...you could stop in and see. They used to sell projects, and I'm sure the basics are probably in the instructions.

Peace

Hi Mona, Plastic canvas is quite easy once you get the hang for it. It's kinda like needle point on plastic. For the beginner I would recommend one of the little kits that show you how to make coasters or x-mas ornaments. You can then work your way up from there. The small kits usually come with all the yarn and instructions. You will be amazed how quickly you zoom through projects and onto bigger things. I hope you have tons of fun.

Hi, Mona! I'm a fairly new member to the forum, but I'm a long-time plastic canvas stitcher. I also used to teach how to do it many years ago. Leisure Arts Boutique online has a beginner plastic canvas book. I just checked and it is called Teach Me Plastic Canvas. It's actually written for kids, and it gives all the basic stitches plus some easy projects to start out. Just check at www.theleisureboutique.com . I just hope I don't get kicked off of the forum for sending you elsewhere to find the book. LOL

I think my mom has the kids book you mentioned. Might need to find it for my DD.
