I am crocheting a new shawl for my mom. I made her one about 5 yrs ago but it is starting to wear out, lol! And I always have some new design I'm working on on my hook. What are your WIPs?

For Christmas I am making dishcloths and towel toppers, spiral scarves.
My UFO's are in the attic: I have a bright blocks afghan I have to finish for DD started it last year...there is also a rose block coverlet for my room, a purple ripple afghan that I started WAY too long ago, a white "baby blanket" that my guage was so far off on it will fit a twin bed...once the weather cools off I will get back to the yarn but not at 95 degrees and up...

What are your WIPs? Good morning, I am using scrap yarn to make Mary Jane booties. First pair I made fit a doll. While the pattern is crochet I experimented by making the sole of the bootie in black crochet yarn, changed color to white and using a crochet afghan stitched acrossed the top of the toe to meet up for the area that would be the long (leg and top) part of the sock in stocking stitch, finsihing off the top of the sock with a 1X1 rib stitch. The color contrast, plus stitch variation turned out really cute. Finishing touches, I found a couple of metal buttons to serve as buckles and got rave reviews for my efforts. I hope this inspires you. I am also a knitter when time permits so I am working on a knitted afghan that is a long term project for my daughter who is a college student. Luck would have it I found a pattern for me and started a knitted wrap cardi that is made form a rectangle with sleeves. I don't knit very fast, but I have fun. The crochet is fast and quick keeping me motivatedn to get going again with the knitting. Happy crocheting! 138knit

Will be used to trade with other people so we can each make a friendship afghan using everyone elses squares. Will be interesting to see the different technics and patterns others use.

I am learning to crochet. Picked up a couple of books at A C Moore yesterday and started "studying" last night; learned the chain stitch and slip stitch. I'm a knitter but just got back from a long trip to my family reunion and I was entranced by my cousins crocheting so figured ~ why not me, too??? I'm definitely awkward with the different hand motion (single needle vs. two needles) but so far I'm really enjoying the new skill and will carry on. My knitting project currently underway is a loose jacket from a free Lion Brand pattern from Lion Brand Homespun ~ time consuming but LOTS of fun ~ so I have OPTIONS!!!

finishing up an afghan that needs to be done tomorrow!!!! have 46 more rows to go and am 2 tired to do any more work on it. Will take it to work with me and tuck in the ends, then finish it when I get home. A co-worker asked me to design an afghan for her and I told her it would be done tomorrow....she has a party to go to Saturday, thats when she is giving it away.

I've just finished a butterfly rug for my granddaughter and am working on a shawl using laceweight yarn and a J hook. I have to concentrate on the pattern right now so I think Ill have to start something easy as well that I can take out and about and work on when I've got company.
I've got to start working on an afghan showing Puss'nBoots, from Shrek, and that is going to be quite challenging.

I am working on a baby jacket using a new stitch which I have never done. It is a DCL (double crochet loop). Going very slow but I am determined to do it! Also just finished a ripple afghan for my grandaughter to take back to college.

I'm working on kitty mats, 1 and a 1/2 done, and 4 and a 1/2 to go. my girlfriend has 6 kitties and they are for Christmas.
has anybody bought a 'New Crochet' needle lately? I bought a 'N' in metal, it's horrible! it just won't slide. the yarn I'm using is a soft variety. has anybody else had this trouble?
Doddlebug, we need a picture of that wedding dress, bet is beautiful

I've used my N hook and didn't have a problem. Maybe it is the hook, take it back and try a different one. It's Not The Destination, It's The Journey.

I'm working on an afghan right now. It's my first crochet project. I started last friday and so far have only completed 6 rows. It's hard but I know it'll be worth it.

Hi there! I still consider myself a beginner, But thanks to a little book called "Happy Hooker". I am doing really well! What I started out with were scarves in a variety of colours. Including my favorite, varigated!. By last Thanksgiving, I made Harry Potter scarves for my friends. For Christmas, I discovered using three skienned throws and shawls using a large hook. I made placemats and coasters for my nephew and his bride for their wedding gift (10 settings)
For a special occasion, St. Patrick's Day, I took Red Heart in dark green, burnt orange, and white, my large hook, and made 24 skinny, 1/2 DC "Irish Day" scarves for 18 guests, the waitress, and Noel, the owner of Paddy's Loft of Massapequa, NY.
I took a little bit of a break, so I can think up new designs. A co-worker is expecting, so I began with taking the big needle, 6 skiens Red Heart "Baby" varigated, and did a 3-ply plush blanket in my favorite 1/2 DC. It came out huge, and slightly irregular, but it will cover the crib, to toddler's bed. I then planned and made 4.5 squares in bright colours for a design called "Baby's Busy Day Blanket". Which is awaiting for me to stitch it all together using RH Varigated "Sunset Fiesta". When I found out she's expecting a boy, I spotted a Vanna White pattern in the ominous Granny Square. So, with the help of the Happy Hooker, I was successful in making 56 perfectly sized Granny Squares using Vanna's fiber in Baby Angel White, Sweet Pea, and Aqua. I'll be able to complete this by her baby shower on August 10th.
