I am busy crocheting lap blankets for an upcoming craft fair in November. I am doing mostly ripple and giant granny square style but, I will be also doing single crochet blankets, using the back loops only. I like the look of that.

I just finished a wonderful feather & fan baby sweater and a lace baby blanket. I have a new yarn on my needles made out of 100% corn. Love it! A different feel! The tote bag should be nice. I also have the back finished of a "numbers" sweater for my grandson. It's turning out nice in good ol' Red Heart Super Saver Yarn.

I plan on finishing an afghan that I have been working on during my lunch. Will bring it home tonight and finish the border and tuck the ends in

I'm working on the "afghan that would not finish". I made it for a queen sized bed and have been working on it folded in 8th's for ever (years as it is too heavy to bring with and I only work on it in cold weather) Recently I opened it to lay it out on the bed to see how much more I had to do. It was then I realized that I had been adding stitches and instead of a rectangle, I had a trapeziod. I had also forgotten what size hook I started with and must have switched to a larger hook at some point. What a mess as I ripped out at least 5 skeins. Now it will fit a twin bed. But I don't have any twins. So I might just make it an accent throw across the bottom of the bed. But I'm still thinking I'll finish it....someday! I've been crocheting for ever and I don't think there's a pattern out there I can't handle but this is the second time I've made a large afghan and got "lost" when I thought I knew what I was doing. Guess I have to go back to counting stitches again. But it's so tedious when you have hundreds of stitches...any suggestions?

I am so sorry to hear this happened to you after all the work put into it. I keep a notebook with my projects listed so that i can list all the info ( pattern nameand where published [published info very important if you lose the pattern], hook size, yarn or thread info ect) and have it for when i put a project aside for a while. i was just keeping the info in a bag with the project but little hands got into a few and needed coloring paper..lol but i still keep a sheet with the project too. but i find the notebook tends not to get lost for me. as for counting all those stitches....i have used safety pins to mark off each 50 stitches so that i am less likely to lose count.

I've just started on a second shawl using laceweight and an H hook. This one is an easy pattern so I can take it out in the car and when visiting.

I've got to work on a lightweight project for when I fly to the UK in two weeks time - it makes the flight go faster when I have a crochet project to keep me busy.

The mobility of my projects is all-important to me! On a plane, in a car, visiting with friends; anywhere and where ever; having the car fixed, waiting in a doctor's office ~ the beauty of pulling out my project and working on it! Keeps me sane for sure!

Thanks jura2908! Great idea with the safety pins. Don't want to make that mistake again!

I've actually been making slippers. It's in the low 90's here in Baltimore and my feet are cold from the air conditioner. My DGD's were here and needed them too. Also been making no sew towel holders. Patti

Oh, wow, Bonnie, that is really great ~ I'm taking two classes at A C Moore this month so HOPEFULLY I will become proficient enough to produce something as beautiful as that! Where did you get the pattern? (Or maybe that's a dumb question . . . I'm just a beginner.)

The link to the pattern is 6 spots above this. Thanks for the complements. It really wasn't that hard, if you can do popcorn stitches, you could make this afghan. Now I'm off to start a ripple afghan .....

I hear you on that. I bring my project bag with me everywhere I go. And since I don't want to carry two things, (pocketbook and project bag) I take only what I really need from my pocketbook and put those items in a ziplock bag and toss that into the project bag. By pulling my project out to work on I have inspried a lot of folks to get that project they started so long ago and finish it. Including one of my doctors. So often I hear "My grandmother used to do that. I wish someone would have taught me when I was a kid" Someone did teach me and now I try to pass it on to anyone who really wants to learn.

Agreed Addie - I quite often get comments from other people when I pull the work out my bag.

I was recently back in Illinois for a family reunion and pulled out my project(s) when we were sitting around talking, and darned if my cousins didn't swear on the spot that they were going to go back to their long-abandoned projects!

And it served an additional pleasant purpose, too . . . brought back many memories of our Grandma knitting and crocheting Barbie outfits for us back in the day, and she taught many of us what we know of yarning today!

So many people these days just can't sit still and visit and relax (and I am one of them, for sure!) that having a project which relaxes me, brings me peace and allows me to enjoy the moment and be productive at the same time ~ well, other people notice and DO want the same!

I've had some denim blue faux mohair yarn I bought several years ago, and actually had it in a magenta color that I made a knitted triangle shawl (my 1st knitted project) about 5 years ago. That shawl is getting stretched out of shape from years of use, and when I was browsing through the patterns on the Lion Brand Yarn website, I found this one. It's VERY simple, a half-circle shape that uses a LOT of yarn near the bottom (I think I got two full rows out of the last skein), but I should have enough to finish the pattern.
