Project Instructions

  • 1
Place the Gelli plate down on a smooth, flat, non-absorbent surface, like a baking sheet. Spread a thin, even layer of acrylic paint across the plate using your soft rubber brayer.
  • 2
Create designs with stencils or other texture tools. When you're done with this, place your paper on the paint and gently rub to transfer the paint onto the paper. Remove and clean off any excess paint on your plate with water, baby wipes, or hand sanitizer. Repeat this process until you have the amount of hearts you want to make your mobile.
  • 3
Embellish designs with the puffy fabric paints. When dry, cut out hearts of varying sizes (though no larger than 4”" across) from the cardstock. Trace the hearts over your monoprints from steps 1 and 2, then use scissors to cut the hearts out!
  • 4
Lay out your mobile, and then attach it to the fishing line using Glue Dots. Securely tie the fishing line to the dowel rod. You might even consider adding a dab of hot glue to the knot for a little extra stability.
