1Tip: Your flower will be made up of three different sized petals, roughly 1-1/2" apart. You can create a variety of giant paper flowers using this to scale your petal's sizes.
Step A: Cut five pieces of 10" circles and five pieces of 8-1/2" circles from the same color cardstock for your outer petals.
Step B: Cut five pieces of 7" circles out of a different color cardstock for your inner petals.
Step C: Cut a 1-1/2" slit from the edge towards the center of each circle.
Step D: Apply hot glue to one side of the slit and overlap the other side at 1/2". Use a paint brush handle to curl both sides of each petal.
Step A: Cut a 4"x4" square base for your flower.
Step B: Starting with the outer layer, place the first 10" petal in the center of your square base and then glue. Then, place the next petal halfway overlapping the previous petal. Continue to create an even spread of petals.
Step C: Repeat step B in attaching the next two layers inside of the outer layer. (Tip: Place each petal to find its fit before gluing them down.)3Bud:
Step A: For each bud, cut one strip of a third color of cardstock, measuring about 2 inch wide by 12 inches long. Cut 1-1/2” slits along the long edge.
Step B: Use closed scissors to curl the edges. Roll into a bud with the edges curling outward; apply glue to the end of the roll to secure. Apply glue to the bottom of bud and place in the center of flower.
