Halloween Block Creatures
We've reinterpeted cubes into a ghoulish collection of stackable creatures this Halloween! A mummy, a pumpkin, Frankenstein and a bat -- you might just say they're chips off the old block!

- Level:age 8 + up
- Time:1 hour + dry time
Step A: Using the wood glue, glue the smaller block in the center of the larger block for the head and neck, and then glue a dowel cap to each side of the smaller block for the bolts. Let the glue set.
Step B: Paint the blocks Yellow Green and the bolts Shimmering Silver and let dry.
Step C: Using the Black paint marker, draw on the hair. Draw the facial features and scars with the ultra-fine point Black marker.
Step D: Glue on the wiggle eyes with the school glue.
Step A: Download and print the template. Use it to cut out the wings from the foam and set aside.
Step B: Paint each block Lavender and let dry. Use the Orange dimensional fabric paint to accent the wings. Use the Black and White dimensional fabric paints to draw the mouths and fangs on the bats, and let the paint dry thoroughly.
Step C: Glue the wings onto each side of the blocks and the the wiggle eyes.
Step A: With the wood glue, glue the napkin ring to the top of the wood block for the neck. Then, glue the doll head to the napkin ring. Glue the wood man pieces to the sides and front for the arms and legs, and let the glue set.Step B: Paint the entire thing Snow (Titanium) White, and then let the paint dry.
Step C: Rip several 1" pieces of the muslin. Using the school glue, glue the end of one piece of muslin to the mummy, wrap it around, and glue the other end. Continue wrapping and gluing until the mummy is covered.
Step D: Glue two wiggle eyes to the head and under the muslin.
Step A: Using the wood glue, glue the three blocks together offsetting the blocks as shown. Let the glue set.
Step B: Paint the three blocks Jack-O-Lantern and let dry. Draw a face on each pumpkin with the paint marker, glue on the eyes with the school glue.
Step C: Using the small saw, cut two small pieces of dowel and sand the edges on a slant. Paint the two pieces Yellow Green, and let the paint dry. Glue to the top of the top two pumpkins with the wood glue.
