Project Instructions

    Use a gauge of 20 sts and 26 rows (about 4 inch) in Stockinette st to knit a wine bag that measures approximately 14 inch long x 10 inch around. Save time, check your gauge. If the hook or needle listed under supplies does not work, use the size that allows you to obtain the required gauge.
    Download the template for abbreviations not explained elsewhere and the embroidery chart.
    Note: Wine Bag is worked sideways. To change colors, twist the two colors around each other where they meet, WS, to avoid a hole.

    With Warm Brown, cast on 5 sts. With Country Green, cast on 63 sts. 68 sts.
    1st row: (RS). With Country Green, K63. With Warm Brown, K5.
    2nd row: With Warm Brown, K5. With Country Green, P55. K8.
    Rep last 2 rows 3 times more.

    Next row: (RS). With Country Green, K6. Turn. Leave rem sts on a st holder.
    Cont in garter st (knit every row) across 6 sts until opening measures 3 inch ending with a WS row. Leave sts on a spare needle.
    With RS facing, join yarn to rem sts.
    Next row: With Country Green, Sl1. K56. With Warm Brown, K5.
    Next row: With Warm Brown, K5. With Country Green, P55. K2.
    Rep last 2 rows until opening measures 3 inch, ending with a WS row.
    Joining row: (RS). With Country Green, K6 from st holder. K57. With Warm Brown, K5.
    1st row: With Warm Brown, K5. With Country Green, P55. K8.

    Cast off knitwise.

    Finishing:
    With Warm Brown, Embroidery Chart (page 3 of template) onto Country Green section of Front with duplicate st 4 rows above cast on edge of Front and 3 sts in from color change to Warm Brown at Base.
    With Country Green, sew sides of Front and Back tog leaving flat edge. With Warm Brown, work blanket st embroidery along each side. Sew Base in position.
