Lion Brand Color Clouds Radiant Baby Afghan
When the temperature drops, it's time to cuddle up under this bright and beautiful knitted blanket.
Use a gauge of 6-1/2" (4") in St st to knit an afghan that measures 31" x 36". When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

•Afghan is worked in one piece in St st (k on RS, p on WS) with Seed st borders.
•Yarn color is changed following the Stripe Sequence. (To achieve Stripe Sequence, work 9 rows of B, 9 rows of C, 9 rows of D, 9 rows of E for a total of 36 rows.)
•A circular needle is used to accommodate the large stitches. Work back and forth on the circular needle just as if working on straight needles.
With A, cast on 51 sts.
Row 1 (WS): Work Row 1 of Seed st across.
Rows 2-6: Work Row 2 of Seed st.
Row 7 (WS): Work in Seed st over 5 sts for border, p to last 5 sts, work in Seed st to end of row for border.
Change to B.
Begin Stripe Sequence
Row 8 (RS): With B, work in Seed st over 5 sts, k across to last 5 sts, work in Seed st to end of row.
Row 9: Work in Seed st over first 5 sts, work in St st (k on RS, p on WS) to last 5 sts, work in Seed st to end of row.
Rows 10-16: Rep Row 9.
Continue as established, working first and last 5 sts in Seed st, remaining sts in St st, and changing color following Stripe Sequence, until you have worked the 36 row Stripe Sequence a total of 2 times.
Change to A.
Next Row: With A, rep Row 9.
Work 6 rows in Seed st.
