Project Instructions

Use a gauge of 9 sts + 18 rows (about 4 inch) in Seed st to knit a vest that measures approximately 37 (41, 46, 51, 57) inch in Closed Finished Bust and 26 (26, 27, 28, 28) inch in Finished Length (not including collar). This translates to approximately S (M, L, 1X, 2X/3X). Be sure to check your gauge. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you less stitches to match the gauge, try using a smaller size needle or hook; if it takes you more stitches, try a larger size needle or hook.
Pattern and supplies are written for smallest size with changes for larger sizes in parentheses. When only one number is given, it applies to all sizes. To follow a pattern more easily, circle all numbers pertaining to your size before beginning. You will need 4 skeins of yarn to make this in size S; 5 skeins of yarn to make this in sizes M and L; and 6 skeins of yarn to make this in sizes 1X and 2X/3X. Special stitch:
Seed St (worked over an odd number of sts) = Row 1 (RS): *K1, p1; rep from * to last st, k1. Row 2: K the purl sts and p the knit sts. Rep Row 2 for Seed st. Notes:
    1. Vest is worked in one piece beg at lower edge. Piece is divided at armholes and fronts and back worked separately to top of armholes. Fronts and back are again joined and collar worked in one piece to top edge.
A circular needle is used to accommodate the large number of sts. Work back and forth on circular needle as if working on straight needles.
When you see ‘work even’ in the instructions, this means to continue on in the pattern st you have established without changing the st count by increasing, decreasing, or binding off.
