Project Instructions

Use a gauge of 8 sc + 8 rows to crochet an afghan that measures approximately 52 inch x 52 inch.Be sure to check your gauge. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you less stitches to make a 4 inch square, try using a smaller size hook; if it takes you more stitches, try a larger size hook. Download the template for abbreviations not explained elsewhere and the pattern. Notes: Afghan is worked with 2 strands of yarn held together. Afghan is made from 64 identical Squares. Squares (page 3 of template) are arranged into Blocks of 4 rows of 4 Squares each and sewn tog following Block Assembly Diagram (page 4 of template). Blocks are then arranged into 2 rows of 2 Blocks each and sewn tog following Afghan Assembly Diagram (page 5 of template). Turning the Squares in different directions, as shown in Diagrams, creates the pattern on the Afghan. The Border is crocheted around the outside edge of the completed Afghan. To change color, work last st of old color to last yarn over. Yarn over with new color and draw through all loops to complete st. Fasten off old color.
