Project Instructions

Use a gauge of 12 sts + 16 rows (about 4 inch) to knit a hat that measures approximately 20 inch in Finished Neck Circumference and 9 inch in Finished Length. Be sure to check your gauge. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you less stitches to match the gauge, try using a smaller size needle or hook; if it takes you more stitches, try a larger size needle or hook. Download the template for abbreviations not explained elsewhere.
    Special stitches and abbreviations:
2/2 LC (2 over 2 left cross) = Slip 2 sts to cable needle and hold in front of work, k2, then k2 from cable needle.
2/2 RC (2 over 2 right cross) = Slip 2 sts to cable needle and hold in back of work, k2, then k2 from cable needle.
ssk (slip, slip, knit) = Slip next 2 sts as if to knit, one at a time, to right needle; insert left needle into fronts of these 2 sts and knit them tog – 1 st decreased.
    Notes:
Hat is worked in the round on double pointed needles.
Simple cables are worked on the body of the Hat. Decreases to shape the top of the Hat are incorporated into the cables.
