Project Instructions

Use a gauge of 14 sts + 24 rows (about 4 inch) over Rows 1 to 8 to knit a hat that measures approximately 19 inch in finished circumference and will stretch to fit a range of sizes. Save time, check your gauge. If the hook or needle listed under supplies does not work, use the size that allows you to obtain the required gauge.

    Special Stitches:
M1 (make 1) = an increase worked by lifting the horizontal strand lying between needles and placing it onto left needle. Knit this new stitch through the back loop – 1 st increased.
M1P (make 1 st as if to purl) = an increase worked by lifting the horizontal strand lying between the needles and placing it onto left needle. Purl this new stitch through the back loop – 1 st increased.
sk2p = slip 1 as if to knit, knit 2 together, pass slipped stitch over – 2 sts decreased.
    Notes:
Body of Hat is worked in rows then seamed to make a ring. Sts are picked up along long edges for lower edging and top of Hat.
When you see ‘– 12 sts’ in the instructions, this lets you know how many sts you will have at the end of that specific row.
