Use a gauge of 11 sts + 7 rows (about 4 inch) in pattern to crochet a shrug that is S/M (L/XL). This translates approximately to 37 (42-1/2) inch in finished width and 25 (27) inch in finished length. Save time, check your gauge. If the hook or needle listed under supplies does not work, use the size that allows you to obtain the required gauge. Pattern is written for smallest size with changes for larger sizes in parentheses. When only one number is given, it applies to all sizes. To follow pattern more easily, circle all numbers pertaining to your size before beginning.

    Special Stitches:
BPDC (back post double crochet) = yo, insert hook from back to front then to back, going around post of indicated st, draw up a loop, (yo and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice. Skip st in front of the BPDC.
FPDC (front post double crochet) = yo, insert hook from front to back then to front, going around post of indicated st, draw up a loop, (yo and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice. Skip st behind the FPDC.
You will need six skeins of Tropics to crochet this shrug in size S/M and seven skeins of Tropics to crochet this shrug in size L/XL.
Note: Shrug is worked as a rectangle, then folded in half and seamed.
