Project Instructions

Use a gauge of 14 dc (4 inch) to crochet a hat that measures approximately 20 inch and stretches to several sizes. Save time, check your gauge. If the hook or needle listed under supplies does not work, use the size that allows you to obtain the required gauge.
Download the template for abbreviations not explained elsewhere.
    Special stitch:
Shell = sc2tog (sc 2 sts together) (Insert hook in next st and draw up a loop) twice, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook – 1 st decreased.
    Notes:
Lower portion of Hat is worked in 4 pieces: 2 Granny Squares, Front, and Back. The pieces are sewn tog to form a circle, with Granny Squares as earflaps. Sts are worked around the top edge of the lower portion to make the upper portion of the Hat.
Granny Squares are worked in joined rnds, changing color on every rnd, with RS facing at all times. Work over yarn ends as you go to reduce the number of ends to weave in later.
Use colors from Charming yarn pack as desired.
