1Use a gauge of 23 sts + 42 rows (about 6 inch) in Garter st (knit every row) to knit a scarf that measures approximately 6 inch x 54 inch. Save time, check your gauge. If the hook or needle listed under supplies does not work, use the size that allows you to obtain the required gauge.

Special stitch:
kfb (knit in front and back) = Knit next st without removing it from left needle, then k through back of same st 1 st increased.
Notes:
Scarf is worked in one piece with alternating sections of Rib and Garter st.
So that width of Scarf remains even, sts are increased at the beginning of each Rib section and decreased at the end of each Rib section. -
2Cast on 23 sts.
Rows 1-42: Work in Garter st (k every row).
Row 43 (RS): K2, kfb, (k2, kfb, k1, kfb) 3 times, k2, kfb, k2 31 sts.
Row 44: K1, *p1, k1; rep from * across.
Row 45: P1, *k1 through back loop, p1; rep from * across.
Rows 46-73: Rep Rows 44 and 45.
Row 74: Rep Row 44.
Row 75: K2, k2tog, (k2, k2tog, k1, k2tog) 3 times, k2, k2tog, k2 23 sts.
Rows 76-116: Work in Garter st.
Rep Rows 43-116 three times more.
Bind off. -
