Make'n Mold Mint Chocolate Yule Logs

A mini version of a traditional holiday favorite!

Project Instructions

    Note: if you are not going to use a separate bowl and/or bottle for each color of candy wafers, your yule log may look better if you clean your microwaveable bowls, dipping tools and decorating bottles between colors.

    Melt about half of the Dark Mint in a microwaveable safe bowl according to package instructions. Add 1/4 cup of corn syrup and mix to form a ball. Wrap in cling film and place in the refrigerator. Leave for 1-2 hours until firm.

    Melt about half of the Vanilla in a microwaveable safe bowl according to package instructions. Add 1/4 cup of corn syrup and mix to form a ball. Wrap in cling film and place in the refrigerator. Leave for 1-2 hours until firm.

    Remove both bowls from the refrigerator and cut each ball into 4 equal size pieces.

    Separately, work the Vanilla/Corn Syrup and Dark Mint/Corn Syrup mixtures in your hands until it becomes soft enough to shape. Shape each piece into a 4 inch x 2 inch rectangle.

    Place one rectangle of the mixture in between 2 sheets of wax paper and roll out to 1/8 inch thicknness (keeping the rectangle shape as much as possible). Remove the wax paper and set aside. Repeat this step with the other pieces.

    Take a rectangle of Dark Mint and place a rectangle of Vanilla on top. Trim the edges so they are the same size.

    Set the rectangle so that the long side is in front of you with the Vanilla on top of the Dark Mint. Fold over the first 1/8 inch away from yourself, starting the roll.

    Continue to roll away from yourself creating the log like shape. Trim each end to make even and then cut the log in to 4 equal lengths. Repeat with remaining rectangles.

    Melt about 1/4 of Red according to package instructions. Repeat, but with Dark Green. Place the melted candy wafers into bottle. Decorate holly leaves and berries on top of the Yule Logs. Chill for 10 minutes.
