Project Instructions

  • 1
Cut four lengths of dazzle Gold that are approximately 50 inch each. As you will need to seam 2 of the 4 lengths, overlap joints about 1/8 inch and glue together to make the total length.
  • 2
Fold each 50 inch piece and crease at end. Cut all ends at a diagonal. It will help guide as you make the stars. Weave the 4 folded pieces as pictured.
  • 3
Pull each ribbon to begin to tighten the weave pattern. The next step involves folding ribbons to create another woven pattern on top of the first.
  • 4
Starting with the upper right ribbon and fold down the top ribbon and crease. Using the top left hand piece repeat until the 4th side. Tuck the last ribbon in the pocket below.
  • 5
    Pull ribbons.
  • 6
To make the first point of your star, take the top right piece and fold back to create a triangle fold and then down again.
  • 7
    Fold this over.
  • 8
Use your forefinger to gently hold the first point back and feed the attached strand into pocket below. (Tip: you may find it easier to complete this step if you pick up the project).
  • 9
Quarter turn your work in between each step.
  • 10
With the top right piece repeat 2 more times and quarter turn your work.

  • 13
Allow the ribbon your moved side to fold back.
  • 14
Your star now has 4 points.
  • 15
Flip your work over. Repeat steps 6 thru 13 on the flip side.
  • 16
You now have eight flat points and eight stands of ribbon.
  • 17
To make the four stand up points begin with the bottom right ribbon.
  • 18
Fold this ribbon straight up and give it a crease.
  • 19
Take the bottom left ribbon and fold it over and give it crease.
  • 20
    Lift your work.
  • 21
Make the first stand up star point.
  • 22
Take that same piece and bend it down and up and around and tuck it into the pocket.
  • 23
Your ribbon end will come out behind your points.
  • 24
Repeat around until you have all 4 points.
  • 25
Turn you work over and repeat steps 20 thru 24 to make the last four stand-up points.
  • 26
Cut the extra ribbon off at the ends being carful not to cut the star fold.
  • 27
Your finished star will have 8 points around and 4 standing points front and 4 standing points on back.
  • 28
