Nicole Crafts Tassel Basket
Let's face it. We can all use another basket to store our stuff. Check out A.C. Moore's exclusive Store It by Nicole line to find a storage solution that works for you (pick up some yarn while you're there) and get started on this project! Wait until you see how easy it is to add colorful tassels! This DIY is the perfect way to add a pop of color to you décor.
- Time:less than 2 hours
1Measure and Knot: Find out how much yarn you'll need to weave through the basket. Add about 6 inches to this length for buffer just in case. Cut a piece of yarn that equals this amount. Put yarn through eye of canvas needle and knot. Knot the end of yarn.
2Weave: Starting from the inside of basket, weave the yarn through the basket and pull until it stops at the knot.
3Make and Attach Tassels: Cut 2-1/2 x 3 inch piece of cardboard. Wrap yarn around the 2-1/2 inch side of cardboard to the fullness desired. Take a 4 inch piece of yarn and go under the strands at the edge of cardboard and make a tight knot, use these two strands later to attach to basket. Cut along the edge of the other side of cardboard to detach. Take another 4 inch piece of yarn and tie 1/2 inch down from the top of tassel to create a small bulk. Cut excess and trim tassel to make even. Tip: To get evenly cut pieces of yarn, cut a piece of cardboard or heavy cardstock that is the same length as the yarn. Wrap the yarn lengthwise around it and cut the yarn flush at the top and bottom. Take the two remaining strands to tie onto the basket. Repeat this step until you have the desired amount of tassels.
