Project Instructions

  • 1
Cut 12 pieces of Wildfire thread that are each 16 inch long. Gather them together. Then, tie one big overhand knot at one end of the gathered strands. String 6-7 inches of beads onto each of the 12 strands. Then gather up the strands tightly together and make a neat overhand knot at the end. Pull the knot down close to the beads and make sure it is very tight. Cut off the excess string on both sides, leaving just a little excess thread that will be hidden inside the cone.
  • 2
Open an oval jump ring. Thread it through the center of the knot you have made in one end of the gathered strands of seed beads. Then, thread the eye of an eyepin onto the jump ring and close the jump ring. Repeat on the opposite end 3. Slide a large filigree cone down onto one of the eyepins to cover up the knot. Push the cone down firmly into place, then bend the eyepin to a 90 degree angle where it exits the cone. Cut the excess eyepin so that 3/8 inch remains, and use your round nose pliers to make a loop. Repeat this step on the opposite side.
  • 3
Cut an eight inch piece of floss from the skein and set it aside. Wind half of the skein around the width of the cardboard and cut off the remaining half. While the thread is still wound around the cardboard, open an oval jump ring and slide it under all the floss on one end of the cardboard. Then close the jump ring and slide the floss off the cardboard. Use the 8 inch piece of floss to wind around the base of the jump ring over and over. Then tie several knots and allow the ends to hang down as part of the tassel. Cut all the strings at the bottom of the tassel in a neat line.
  • 4
Use oval jump rings to attach the clasp to the loops you have made at the top of each cone. On one side, attach a few bead dangles onto this jump ring like the turtle bead shown here. Attach the tassel with a jump ring to the opposite side for decoration.
