- Time:1/2 hour + drying time
You'll need to know how to form a loop, use jump rings and cord ends to make this necklace. What's that? you say? Check out the video above for using jump rings and all the other jewelry making videos on A.C. Moore's official YouTube channel! You'll be a pro in no time!
Cut one package of floss into 7 inch lengths. Tip: an easy way to cut your floss is to cut a 7 inch length of cardboard or heavy paper stock. Wrap the floss lengthwise around it and cut the floss flush at the top and bottom. This gives you evenly cut 7 inch lengths of floss. Gather your lengths of floss together so the ends are even. Take one of the lengths of floss, wrap it around the middle of the gathered strands of floss, and tie it into a secure triple knot. Trim the excess floss from the knot. Fold the other strands down in half to form a tassel. Place a generous amount of glue inside the cord end, push the fold end of the tassel in until it is snug, and allow to dry.
Cut a 12 inch length of Purple seed bead cord. Wrap the cord several times around the tassel at the base of the cord end. Remove seed beads from approximately 1 inch of each end of the seed bead cord and set the seed beads aside. Tie the cord ends into a very secure triple knot and trim off excess cord. Place a dab of glue in the knot to secure it and allow to dry. Slide two seed beads, a square Periwinkle/White swirl bead, a seed bead, and a Periwinkle barrel bead onto an eye pin and form a loop to make a bead link. Use a 6 mm jump ring to connect the bottom loop of the bead link to the loop on the top of the cord end. Connect the top loop of the bead link to the bottom of an ear wire.
Repeat steps 1 and 2 for the matching earring. Tip: if the hole in the barrel bead slides down over the seed bead, slide a crimp onto the eye pin and flatten it with pliers before adding the barrel bead. This will help hold the barrel bead above the seed bead.
