Nicole's™ Bead Shop Shipwreck Tassel Necklace

According to Greek legend, beautiful sea sirens sang enchanting songs that lured young sailors to shipwreck against the rocky shores. We like to think that the sirens might have been wearing tassel necklaces like this one, which adds an attention-getting oblong bead in the center for extra dramatic flair.

Project Instructions

  • 1
You'll need to know how to use crimp tubes and cut chain to make this necklace. (Trust us, it's easy!) Find out everything you need to know by watching A.C. Moore'’s official Jewelry Making playlist on YouTube! Click the YouTube link at the bottom of this page, and look for ‘Playlists’ when you land on our channel homepage.
  • 2
Cut a 50 inch length of beading wire.
  • 3
Cut six 6 inch lengths of chain. Thread the beading wire through the middle link of each length of chain. Pull the end of the beading wire approximately 5-6 inch beyond the threaded links of chain then fold the wire back up against itself. (One side of the beading wire will be much longer than the other.)
  • 4
Thread both ends of beading wire up through the large opening in a Silver cone, an AB flat faceted round, a large Black oblong bead, another AB flat faceted round, and a crimp tube.
  • 5
Separate the two ends of beading wire. String the following pattern onto the longer side of beading wire: seed bead, Blue sparkle bead, seed, bead, AB flat faceted round until you reach a length of 29-1/4 inch. Continue by stringing on a seed bead, a Blue sparkle bead, a seed bead, a Blue sparkle bead, a seed bead, and an AB flat faceted round.
  • 6
Thread the longer side of the beading wire down through the crimp tube and last AB flat faceted round from step 3.
  • 7
Thread the short side of the beading wire back up through the last couple of beads added in step 4.
  • 8
Snug up any slack in both ends of the beading wire, securely crimp the crimp tube, and trim excess beading wire.
