Perler Beads Football Mania
A fun football project that replicates your favorite teams fighting it out on the gridiron! As an added bonus, this project easily switches to a game for you and a friend!
- Time:4 hours
1Project time does not include the time needed for the project to cool.
Download and print project template for assistance in placing the beads for this project as well as assembling it.
You will need the following quantities of beads for this project:
Dark Blue: 1
Dark Green: 1,044
2Assemble two large square pegboards as shown on the project template to create the field. Cut out the individual halves of the chart and tape them together so that you can see the whole design at once. To create the other pieces, you will only need to use one pegboard at a time. If youre using clear pegboards, slide the actual-size pattern underneath them. Now place all the beads for your project.
3Cover the completed design with the ironing paper. Keeping the iron level, gently iron the beads in a circular motion for about 10 seconds to fuse the beads evenly. Ironed properly, the beads will still have an open center. On a 3-D project such as this, do not over iron. the beads as it will make the centers of the beads close and can make assembly difficult.
4Once the design is cool, peel off the ironing paper. Lift your design from the pegboard; flip the design over and repeat step 3. Your pegboard and ironing paper are reusable. Assemble the project.
5To play 2 Player Finger Football:
Remove the players from Football Mania.Place Football Mania on a smooth, level table.
Each player takes a turn gently pushing the football with his or her fingertips toward the goal line at the opposite end of the table.
The objective is to get any part of the football to hang over the opposite edge of the table without the football falling off.
Any part of the football hanging over the edge of the table counts as a touchdown and is worth 6 points.
After a touchdown, the player then attempts an extra point by flicking the football with his or her index or middle fingers between the uprights of the field goal posts.
If the player is successful in the extra point, he or she receives one point.
First player to 35 points wins.
