Perler Beads Trick or Treat Door Pouch
Great Halloween party activity!
- Time:1-1/2 hours
1Project time does not include the time needed for the project to cool.
Download and print project template for assistance in placing the beads for this project as well as assembling it.
You will need the following quantities of beads for doing this project as shown:
2Use the small circle and small square pegboards. Slide the actual-size pattern underneath the pegboards. Place all the beads for the design. Place the beads following the template.
3Place your pegboard on a flat, heat-safe surface. Set a household iron to the medium setting. Place ironing paper over the pegboard. In a circular motion, begin to iron the project. When ironed properly, the beads will still have an open center. Let the design cool.
4Remove the paper and bead design from the pegboard. Flip the design over to expose the non-fused side. Repeat step two. Let cool completely. (Note: Beads need heat for about 10-20 seconds per side to fuse evenly. Depending on the size of the project, additional heating time may be required.)
5Once the design is cool, peel off the ironing paper. Lift your design from the pegboard; flip the design over and repeat step 3. Your pegboards and ironing paper are reusable.
6For the Tubular Even Peyote Stitch, thread 76 Black beads onto a length of string to create the first two rows. This is represented in Purple in the pattern. Make a simple overhand tie before beginning the next row.
7Following the thread path shown in Red, start the third row by threading on the next bead following the pattern (White). Go back through bead 2, thread on the next bead, go back through bead 4, etc.
8To finish the pouch, lay it flat on your work surface. You should see that the beads of the bottom row appear to interlock. All you need to do is weave the thread in and out of this last row in a zigzag fashion and end with a secure knot.
9Add the self-adhesive gems for the bats and spiders eyes in the positions noted by the red dots on the patterns. Insert 8 inch lengths of thread into the tops of the bats and spider and tie them onto the pouch so they dangle.
10Create a hanger by threading 10-15 Black beads onto a length of string and secure it to the top row on the back of the pouch.
